Spam emails are ‘unsolicited commercial email sent without consent’. It is email that you don't want and didn't ask for, and its content can cause embarrassment and distress. It has become one of the biggest problems facing the Internet today.

Below are some tips on how to reduce Spam in your email :
    1. Never respond to any spam. No matter how tempting it is never respond to any spam, unless you have subscribed for service (if you have done this you should never use your main email account). This will only encourage them to target you more! Never Click on any of the links in your spam email and Don't even download any images from the email, if possible disable downloading of images unless you have asked explicitly to do so.
    2. Refrain from using the "unsubscribe” or” remove" option. Some senders may remove your address, but others may flag your email address as "live" and send you more spam or even sell your address to other spammers. Instead, forward spam to the Federal Trade Commission at uce@ftc.gov.
    3. Make sure that you don’t publish personal email addresses on your website. The most common method used by spammers to obtain your email address is to use automated software called spam bots that search for and extract email addresses published on the Internet. If you do want to publish a personal email address disguise it using javascript or as an image (these will be inaccessible and stop some disabled viewers from emailing you), or even better, replace the email address with a contact form allowing you to pre-qualify enquiries by asking detailed questions or giving a choice of specific variables.
    4. Avoid providing your e-mail address to "free" services on the Internet. Many of these "free" sites make a portion of their income collecting and selling e-mail addresses to SPAMmers! If you MUST have access to such a site, consider obtaining a separate, free e-mail account at a site such as Yahoo! or Hotmail just for such use.
    5. Subscribe to the email hosting provider that provides spam filtering and antivirus features.
